General Questions

What is RedPhish?

RedPhish is a Browser Detection & Response (BDR) tool that protects you from phishing, malware, and online scams. It scans every link you encounter in real time and warns you before you reach dangerous websites.

Which browsers does RedPhish support?

RedPhish is available for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. All three versions offer the same protection features.

Does RedPhish slow down my browser?

No. RedPhish is designed to be lightweight. Scanning happens in the background and results are cached locally, so most operations complete in milliseconds with no noticeable impact on browsing speed.

Does RedPhish work on mobile devices?

Currently, RedPhish is available only for desktop browsers. Mobile browsers generally do not support the extension APIs required for RedPhish to function.

Privacy and Data

Does RedPhish track my browsing history?

No. RedPhish does not log or store your browsing history. URLs are sent to our scan API for checking but are not retained after the scan completes. See our Data and Privacy page for full details.

What data does RedPhish collect?

RedPhish collects your email address for authentication, aggregate usage counts (number of URLs scanned, number of threats blocked), and for Enterprise users, organization-level metrics. We do not collect the actual URLs you visit or page content.

Can I delete my RedPhish account?

Yes. Sign in to redphish.app, go to your profile page, and click "Delete Account". This permanently removes all your data from our systems.

Protection and Detection

What types of threats does RedPhish detect?

RedPhish detects phishing sites, malware distribution pages, social engineering attacks, scam shopping sites, parked domains used in attacks, and suspicious cloud-hosted HTML files.

How does RedPhish know a site is dangerous?

RedPhish uses continuously updated threat intelligence combined with behavioral analysis. We check URLs against known malicious sites and analyze page patterns to detect new threats that have not been seen before.

What if RedPhish blocks a site I know is safe?

False positives can occur. If you believe a site was incorrectly blocked, you can report it to us. Check the technical details on the block page for information to include in your report.

Can I whitelist a blocked site?

Currently, individual whitelisting is not available in the consumer version. Enterprise administrators can configure policies for their organizations. If you encounter a persistent false positive, contact support.

Subscription and Billing

How does the free trial work?

New accounts automatically receive a free trial with full protection. No credit card is required to start the trial. After the trial ends, you can upgrade to continue protection.

What happens when my subscription expires?

Protection pauses. The extension icon turns gray, and you see a banner prompting you to renew. Your cached scan results remain available temporarily, but new scans are not performed.

What counts toward my scan quota?

Each unique URL scanned counts toward your quota. Cached results do not count again if you revisit the same link.

How do I manage my subscription?

Click the "Upgrade Plan" button in the extension popup or visit your profile at redphish.app. From there, you can access the Stripe billing portal to update payment methods, change plans, or cancel.

Technical Questions

Why does RedPhish need so many permissions?

RedPhish requires access to all websites to scan links on any page you visit. The storage permission saves your settings and cached scan results. The alarms permission enables background tasks. Without these permissions, protection would not work.

Why is the toolbar icon gray?

A gray icon means protection is not active. Common causes: not signed in, subscription expired, quota exceeded, or a network issue. Click the icon to see the specific reason and how to fix it.

Can I use RedPhish with other security extensions?

Yes. RedPhish is designed to complement other security tools. It focuses specifically on link scanning and does not conflict with ad blockers, password managers, or antivirus browser extensions.

Does RedPhish work in incognito or private browsing mode?

It can, but you need to enable it. In Chrome, go to chrome://extensions, find RedPhish, click Details, and enable "Allow in Incognito". Firefox and Edge have similar settings.

Enterprise Questions

How do I deploy RedPhish to my organization?

RedPhish Enterprise supports deployment through Google Admin Console, Microsoft Intune, and other MDM platforms. See our Organization Deployment guide for detailed instructions.

Can I see what threats were blocked for my users?

The Enterprise dashboard shows aggregate metrics: total threats blocked across your organization, broken down by type. Individual URLs or browsing activity are not logged to protect user privacy.

Does RedPhish integrate with our SIEM?

Not currently. RedPhish focuses on endpoint protection rather than generating logs for centralized security monitoring. Enterprise metrics are available in the dashboard but are not exported to external systems.
